Silk Fabric

Be careful when buying "silk" fabric. Many places use the word silk to describe a texture not a fabric content. Ask the seller what the fabric is made of. Many times the response will be polyester or acetate. Some sellers use the word silk to describe a silk blend. If the description does not say 100 percent silk either ask or assume that it is not 100 percent silk.

Sometimes the seller is fooled too. If they do not do a burn test to check for fabric content, they can misinterpret their suppliers description. The seller that I know this happened to was very helpful and took the fabric back after I explained how to do a burn test on it.

You can find instructions on how to do a fabric burn test on the Web.
